GENESEO – On Wednesday, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Livingston County Emergency Medical Services (LCEMS) facility, an extension of the Livingston County Emergency Operations Center to the Hampton Corners County Complex .

The event has been reduced to include a small number of guests due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new LCEMS facility provides ample space for emergency medical personnel, offices for technicians and supervisors, a training room, storage of equipment and supplies, and space for storage of vehicles in protected parking areas.

Karen Dewar, Director of LCEMS, said: “This project is an exceptional example of intergovernmental cooperation at its best. This would not have been possible without the support of our Oversight Board, the County Administrator, and federal, state and local partners every step of the way. Dewar continued, “This brand new facility will allow our agency to grow as the demand for our services continues to increase. This will allow us to be more efficient, protect our vehicles and equipment, and promote education, training and teamwork as we move forward into the future. “
